چکیده
Photocatalytic technology based on the specific band structure of semiconductors offers a promising way to solve urgent energy and environmental issues in modern society. In particular, hydrogen production from water splitting over semiconductor photocatalysts attracts great attention owing clean source application energy, which highly depends performance photocatalysts. Among various photocatalysts, TiO2 has been intensively investigated used extensively due its outstanding photocatalytic activity, high chemical stability, non-toxicity, low cost. However, pure wide gap approximately 3.2 eV, limits activity for generate only under ultraviolet light, excluding most inexhaustible sunlight human beings. Fortunately, can be manipulated, introducing oxygen defects is one effective measures narrow titanium oxides. This review considers fundamentals TiO2, discusses latest progress this field, summarizes methods strategies induce crystals. Then, next section outlines modification approaches oxygen-deficient oxide (TiO2−δ) further improve performance. Finally, brief summary outlook studies TiO2−δ produce are presented.

متن کاملPhotocatalytic Hydrogen Production
The photocatalytic methanol reforming reaction has been studied using many different Pd/Pt loaded TiO2 powdered catalysts, focussing on the effect of weight loading and reaction phase on the rate of hydrogen production. The palladium/platinum weight loading dependence in the gas and liquid phase showed that independent of the phase of reaction, the amount of hydrogen produced from methanol refo...
متن کاملProduction of titanium tetrachloride (TiCl4) from titanium ores: A review
Titanium (Ti) is the ninth most abundant element on earth. The titanium mineral ores are widely distributed in different parts of the world. The two main ores of titanium include rutile (TiO2) and ilmenite (FeO.TiO2). It is aimed to provide the readers with an insight to the main processes currently employed to extract and recover titanium tetrachloride (TiCl4) from different titanium ores. Due...
متن کاملVisible-light-responsive layered titanium oxide/tin indium oxide catalysts for hydrogen production.
Visible-light-responsive layered titanium dioxide/tin indium oxide (TiO2/ITO) catalysts prepared on unheated glass slides by DC magnetron sputtering were investigated in this study. Transmittance spectra of the catalyst revealed that an interference pattern gradually appeared at wavelengths of 550-650 nm which indicated a strong light absorption up to this region. The red-shift may be ascribed ...
متن کاملActive hydrogen species on TiO2 for photocatalytic H2 production.
Photocatalytic H2 production over TiO2 has attracted tremendous attention and achieved great progress, but the active hydrogen species is still unknown. Employing a rutile TiO2(110) surface as a model catalyst we report here for the first time the direct observation of photocatalytic H2 production under ultrahigh vacuum conditions during UV-light irradiation at 115 K and the identification of n...
